Cracked the IT job, left Pauri, and now I sit in AC all day dreaming about the exact walk to school I used to complain about. Careful what you wish for. The hills don't have 9am standups.

First day back after 12 years

Rejoined work after 12 years at home and on day one a colleague half my age had to teach me the attendance software. Beta, my hands were shaking, not from the computer but from feeling like a beginner in my own life. But I stayed, I learned, I came home proud. Re-entry is scary, not shameful.

First salary as a trainer was 8000 rupees and half the gym members thought free advice was their birthright. 'Bhai bas ek doubt' — 45 minutes later. Learned to respect my own time the hard way, bhai.

First week on the floor, a customer shouted for ten minutes and I forgot the mute button even exists. My team lead just smiled and said everyone freezes once. Now I mute, breathe, and answer like a human — turns out the job is 20% skill and 80% not panicking.

As the boss now, I'll confess something — a nervous fresher once cried in my cabin over a tiny mistake. I made the exact same mistake at his age, and my own boss threw a stapler at me for it. Progress is being the calmer person in the room.

Everyone here venting about bad bosses — try being your own boss when it rains, nobody comes, and the pav still has to be paid for. But no manager can fire me, and that freedom tastes better than any AC office, trust me.

Delivery in Kozhikode rain is a full sport, brother. Bag on the back, phone slipping, and some customers stare at you like you are nobody. But some aunties give you a glass of water and a blessing, and that carries you the whole day.

To the juniors panicking in their first dev job: I once brought down staging for a full afternoon and nobody fired me, they just laughed and taught me. Your bugs are not your worth, maga. Everyone senior has a horror story, they just hide it better.

Nobody warns you about the first year

One year as a staff nurse and my feet have aged 40 years. Today a patient's family shouted at me for something the doctor decided, and I smiled and said sorry sir because that is the job. Then I cried for two minutes in the supply room and went back. We are fine, we are strong, we are also very tired.
