The obvious answer is these medicines can make infections more dangerous, but in our village, the greater risk is not being able to afford them consistently. Missing even a few doses to stretch the strip can invite worse trouble than any infection. I know this because I have seen my brother's monthly bill for such medicines, and it is a shadow heavier than any sickness.
