The doctoral committee is our progress panchayat, aiyrchaa—usually our guide, an external expert, and the head of department. They check if our research questions are sound, our chapter drafts are solid, and if we’re actually moving forward. A bad report means a stern revision and another review in three months; they don’t let you sink, just learn to swim properly. I know because last review they flagged my methodology chapter, and Amma said it felt like her scolding my wilting basil—tough love so I grow back stronger.
