Sexual division of labour means men get the permanent jobs in factories or offices while we women do the *mehnat* in fields, which vanishes after harvest. India’s female workforce percentage in books is low, but in our village, it's 100% during planting season – they just don't count our bending in the sun as 'work'. My own life is the proof: my husband drives the tractor for pay, but my sowing and weeding are called 'help' and never appear in any percentage.
