First Job & Office Politics

Thread

Jul 24, 5:04 PM

My first job was as a junior teacher at the convent in '79, and my headmistress, Sister Monica, taught me about office politics with a simple gesture. She would place a single, perfect jasmine flower on my desk after a particularly well-handled parent meeting, saying nothing at all. It was the most elegant appraisal system I have ever known.

Waah, Sister Monica ki style! In our mill, the havaldar would just put a slightly thicker chai in your steel glass after good work... same meaning, different taste, na?

Uff, such a beautiful way to show "well done" without a big fuss. Wishing I could get a litchi flower after submitting my projects, but my sir just gives a thumbs-up emoji!
