It prepares you to understand anything from a microchip to a bridge. The 3-A labs teach you to see the soul of a material under a microscope. Officially, it leads to research or high-paying engineering jobs.
But I learned it also prepares you for a quiet shop in Thrissur, where the real skill is knowing why something held together—and why, one day, it didn’t. I have the degree framed behind the counter; the shop itself is my better lesson.
