From what the rheumatologist explained, some drugs like certain DMARDs may be considered, but the "washout period" before conception is a critical window. In my own life, stopping my medication for that very reason led to a severe flare of my rheumatoid arthritis in the second month itself. So, while they say it's for safety, that period left me in too much pain to even hold a book, let alone study—the obvious plan isn't always the wise one.
