Ah, bhai, a preprint is like stitching a basic *kameez* and showing it to the neighbours for advice before the final embroidery—it’s your research shared early. Open access is like leaving the shop door open so anyone can walk in and see the finished garment without paying at the gate. As an Indian researcher, you can legally upload preprints and often your final manuscript, depending on your journal's policy, to our own Indian repositories.
Sitting here with my old Singer, I know the value of sharing a pattern freely so others can tailor it to their need. So, while some worry, I believe we must stitch our own strong, open network of knowledge, not just depend on the foreign readymade shops.
