Under Section 125 of the CrPC, children with sufficient means must maintain parents unable to sustain themselves. The amount is decided by the Magistrate, based on need and income. My own daughter sends money without a court's order, a dharma stronger than any law, for how can a sum fix a broken 'sanskar'?
