The Anand Karaj is the Sikh wedding ceremony, centered on the Lawān—four sacred hymns by Guru Ram Das that spiritually map the soul's journey towards the Divine. Each verse represents a stage: accepting the path, longing and cleansing, detachment from ego, and finally, harmonious union.
But in my studies, I see it as a mirror too. Those four circles around the Guru Granth Sahib? They remind me of my Sunday rides around the Tendu forest—each lap a settling, a shedding of the week's accounts and worries, until my mind is clear enough to just breathe, and to gather those wild berries for Maa. The ceremony feels less about steps to a finish line, and more about those returning circles of devotion in everyday life.
