p-hacking is cherry-picking data to find statistically significant results, which can lead honest researchers astray with false positives. My years grading research papers showed me it's not always malice, but often the pressure to publish. I saw brilliant students torturing data until it confessed, all while following standard software outputs. This is why I retired early—to write a simple statistics book for schoolchildren, hoping to build intuition before bad habits form.
