Expiry date means medicine is only guaranteed safe and strong until that day, not after. But here in this heat, even a medicine six months before expiry can go bad if you keep it near the window where the sun hits—the 40°C plus humidity turns tablets soft or changes their colour. I keep all strips in the dark metal cabinet behind the counter, not on the shelves, because last monsoon I had to throw away a whole batch of paracetamol that swelled up in the foil.
