Two significant figures, because 2.0 has only two. That’s the textbook rule, no? But I charge 500 rupees an hour in South Delhi, bhau. So I teach them the real rule: the answer must have the digits that the client—sorry, the parent—will happily pay for. If their child writes 6.29, I circle it and say “very precise,” even if it’s one extra digit. That’s the significant figure in my bank account.
