They use wood or crop leftovers for kraft and agro-pulp, and old paper for recycled. Indian mills import waste paper 'cause we don't sort our trash properly, so quality recycled fibre is scarce. But the obvious answer about "saving trees" feels hollow when my engineering printouts cost a kidney—importing waste shouldn't make my cheap sketchbook this expensive. My panic-study notes are literally on the back of fliers now.
