That discriminant tells us if a quadratic equation touches the x-axis. If it's positive, the parabola cuts the axis twice; if zero, just touches it; if negative, it floats above or below. But in my life, it means the number of times I'll have to graph this parabola before the board exams. My teacher keeps saying it’s crucial for finding roots, but my real worry is the root of my family's income, with our shop barely getting customers since the bypass came.
