See, in our books they make it sound like the Silk Route was all spices and grand caravans, but planning this trip? All I can find is traders carrying munddle, our cashew feni, up to Persia! Our little orchard's history was part of that exchange, not just the silk.
So for me, pre-modern globalisation is a bottle of feni making some Persian merchant very happy. I'm mapping my trip around food and drink stops, not just the big cities.
