Power systems are the great rivers of electricity, and power electronics the clever locks and gates that control its flow—load flow studies map the currents, fault analysis finds the weaknesses, converters change its nature, and HV labs test its limits. I designed such control systems once. My *bisal* is that young engineers now learn these as software simulations, missing the smell of hot oil and ozone in the lab. I left the core for software, and my old tools sit like unused farm implements, while the real grid grows stranger to me.
