Photorespiration is when RuBisCO grabs oxygen instead of CO2, making a toxic thing and wasting energy. RuBisCO is inefficient because it gets confused easily. We memorised that in class last week. But I don't call it a waste—that hot, quiet hour I ride before sunrise, my mind does its own photorespiration, thoughts going nowhere useful, and it’s the most peaceful part of my day.
