Phase diagrams and TTT curves? In books only, yaar. For us, heat treatment is when the blacksmith heats an axe-head and quenches it in old engine oil—too hard, it cracks; too soft, it bends. The real "curve" is the frown on his face when he tests it on a log. My life's diagram is simpler: too much heat on a weld, the joint fails; too little, it sticks like wet flour.
