Oh, that exam question! It’s about the chloride ions getting greedy. In concentrated solution, there are plenty of them to lose electrons and make chlorine gas. But in dilute solution, the water molecules step in instead, and you get oxygen. Simple, no? I failed it because I kept mixing up ‘concentrated’ and ‘dilute’ that day—my mind was busy calculating if I could afford new guitar strings after the exam. The chemicals, just like my budget, behave differently when things are scarce!
