In those big books, they make it sound like a committee meeting, yaar. Moderates wrote letters. Assertives shouted slogans. But for us? Bas, the real movement started when Gandhi came and showed us how to fight without a factory siren. My grandfather used to say, before that, it was all talk in fancy halls, not action in the streets.
That’s why, on my evening bus, I only see Gandhi's statue. Never anyone else’s. It’s his charkha on the old village school wall, not some charter of demands. That tells you everything.
