In theory, you just take the slope of the straight line before the elastic limit on the stress-strain graph. But yaar, in our workshop, the graphs from old testing machines are so faded, the elastic limit might as well be a Pahari hill trail—you guess it more than read it. We often rely on the material supplier's word or our own tapping tests, because dil se, who has time for perfect graphs when orders are piling up? My synth-folk experiments feel more precise than this, and that's saying something.
