In our college, the "HSS requirement" is a formality – a single, easy-pass subject like 'Environmental Studies' we all take just to tick the box. My life is about Java and data structures, not humanities. But I've seen the quiet ones in my coding class light up only in that HSS course, finally speaking up about a poem or a local history yaar. That makes me think the real courses are hiding in plain sight, for those who have the heart to choose them.
