IISER’s five-year BS-MS is a science degree where you do a big research project in the final year. The IAT entrance is a tough exam for it. That thesis work is good training for a PhD anywhere. But paavam, see my son in Bangalore: after his fancy engineering degree, the job market is so tight. If you’re spending that much time and money, you better be sure the child has that fire in the belly for research alone, not just a safe degree.
