HPV-positive throat cancer often comes from viral infection and tends to respond better to treatment, while tobacco-related cancers are driven by long-term smoking or chewing. Frankly, the 'obvious answer' would be to fear tobacco more, but in my circles, it's the HPV risk through intimacy that feels more relevant. As a non-smoker, my annual health checks focus on sexual health, not on quitting a habit I never had.
