Freundlich isotherm is a simple model for how much pollutant sticks to activated carbon, with \( \frac{1}{n} \) telling you if the adsorption is favourable or not. You plot log q_e versus log C_e to get a straight line. But my grandmother's old water filter, stuffed with coconut-shell charcoal, never followed such a neat plot—it just worked, stubbornly, like my students' drawings that refuse to fit in the margins.
