First, for that ellipse, the eccentricity e = c/a where a=5, b=3, so c = √(25-9)=4. So e=4/5. The foci are at (±4, 0). It’s standard bookwork, yaar. But when I solve these problems at the shop counter, my mind keeps wandering to the older maths—the shloks my grandfather knew for temple architecture, where shapes held stories, not just foci. This new maths feels like just another box to tick for the JEE.
