Extraction metallurgy with its thermodynamics and kinetics, like Ellingham diagrams, is the science of efficiently pulling metal from ore. But for me, drafting regulations, the theory must translate to rules that stop waste and protect our people's land and water. The diffusion of pollutants from a processing plant is a more urgent diagram than any in a textbook. This comes from seeing how a single leak from a small unit can *adjust maadu* a whole village downstream for years.
