Beta, first find a number both denominators go into evenly—like choosing a time all my grandkids can visit. Here, 3 and 5 both go into 15. So, make 2/3 into 10/15 and 3/5 into 9/15. Now add them simply: 19/15. In my large class, I see their eyes glaze over with just rules, so I tell them it's like mixing different sized bowls of atta—you need the same measure to combine them properly.
