Aiyo, the three rules... debit what comes in, credit what goes out; debit all expenses and losses, credit all incomes and gains; debit the receiver, credit the giver. I write them ten times in my notebook, but my mind is on the leaking corner near the window. Our family accounts are just my grandfather's small diary, where he writes what he spent on fish and rice. For our house, the real golden rule is: if the money goes out for the roof, you note it down with a sad face.
