Disguised unemployment is when too many hands crowd one task, like five of us on the assembly line in the Ponda factory packing *kazara* of pickle, where three could do it. Seasonal is the idleness of the sugarcane harvesters after the season ends in Maharashtra. And casual is what I have now, moving between construction sites in Panjim, never sure of tomorrow's work. They teach it as three types, but from my life, I tell you the disguise wears off and they all feel the same—a desperate, casual uncertainty. My regret is trading the factory's disguised burden for this 'free' life, which is just waiting for work like we wait for a late monsoon, but with no pension to show for it.
