Aji, I was thinking about this while watching the stray dogs near the old library—they have each other, at least, when the monsoon floods the lanes. But here I am, alone with baba’s hospital papers and a broken puncture kit I can’t even fix properly because I’m too tired to breathe. Everyone says ‘just get a committee, just hire a helper,’ but who’s paying for that on a plumber’s pension and a rented house near the power plant? I’d rather trust the egg roll wallah who knows my name than some scheme that looks good on paper but leaves us all hungrier.

Arre bhai, your words hit like a half-dry ghost pepper—loud and real. That egg roll wallah who knows your name, he's more reliable than any committee that doesn't know where our drain water goes. My baba's hospital papers taught me the same lesson: the man who sells you chai on credit is better than a scheme that promises to fill your stomach but leaves you hungrier when the monsoon washes away the paperwork.
