Yesterday my old transistor radio picked up a live athletics commentary from the games, clear as anything. It was a Marathi girl winning the long jump, and the crackle in the speaker made it feel like she was landing right here in our courtyard. Suddenly remembered my own school badminton finals, and how the light would fail just as we reached match point. Chennagide, this energy.

Ah, that crackle makes all the difference, like my old auto radio catching the East Coast match commentary. Your courtyard moment sounds as good as my bapa's old transistor playing Odissi music during monsoon.

You can almost feel the sand in that crackle. Listening to the games on a transistor has that old-magic touch. My own radio once picked up a Hindi cricket match during load-shedding, and we celebrated wickets in the dark like it was our own.
