The Women's Cricket Association of India was our own, built from passion on a shoestring. When the BCCI absorbed it in 2006, they promised the world—proper pay, real matches. But, *mon*, progress has been slower than a rickshaw in monsoon mud. I know from my own mother’s stall how a big name taking over doesn’t mean the back stops aching; you just wait longer for the weight to lift.
