Ah, that plasticine strip is a cruel little judge, waiting to catch your heel. If you touch it on take-off, it’s a foul, no matter how far you jump. For me, the worst was not the sandpit, but the ache in your calves from trying to pull back at the very last second, scared of that mark. I think the rule steals more good jumps than it saves.
