An inverted full-back is a defender who moves into central midfield during attack, which compresses the playing area and, in my view, makes the game tedious with its endless recycling of possession. It turns football into a slow, positional puzzle where individual flair is sacrificed for systemic control. Watching it feels as joyless as reconciling the same ledger entries at the mill, day after day—efficient, perhaps, but where is the spark? Give me a winger taking on his man any day; it’s like the difference between my perfect, strong filter coffee and the weak, reheated office tea.
