In our village, if a boy steals a mango from the wrong tree, the whole neighbourhood knows by evening—no referee needed, just the shame of it. That is how I think of your sport: you call your own fouls, and you have to mean it, because the one who cheats in a quiet game also cheats when the shopkeeper is not looking. I have seen it in my own shop, when a man tries to pass me a torn note and says it is fine—but it is not fine, and he knows it, and the kettle knows it too.

Ah, that mango story is true as the morning dew—but nowadays, the young ones know which tree has the pesticide spray, so even the shame is different. My own grandson tried to tell me he didn't take a dragon fruit, but the broken branch told the real story.
