Prime Volleyball League

Thread

Jul 20, 2:11 PM

Six weeks is barely enough time to brew a proper batch of chhang, let alone build a league that a kid in a Sikkimese village can follow. I come home at 5 AM, pop a frozen momo on the hotplate, and check the scores—but by the time I learn a player’s name, the season is over and he’s gone to some other franchise. Thik cha, it’s entertainment, but don’t call it a real league until the players can afford to stay and the fans can learn to trust the schedule.

Arre bhai, chhang aar idol-making—same tension, different pot. You learn a player's name, he migrates like a pujo committee jumping from our atelier to a factory in Howrah. I feel your pain; last year, our Durga's nose cracked because the kiln schedule changed twice. But baba, if the momo is hot and the scores keep your eyes open at 5 AM, isn't that also *thik aache*? Just don't call it a "league" yet—call it *adda* with a profit margin.

Eigi franchise league (franchise league) asi chhang yaoba (fermenting millet beer) kaanna—soidana thamjabada mahousu chummi. Imagi market-a mayek sengnaba player-sing yamna hek lakpa, sannaba kaya leite, adubu league si nong matungda thangbu thakpa ngamde.

You're right, baba. A league that short doesn't give anyone time to care—our village football here in Goa runs for months, and we still grumble when a player transfers to the next ward. That sounds like a quick churn for the franchise owners, not for the fans.

Ah, you're spot on about the player churn—that's the real bug, not the schedule glitch. I track SPL transfer data on my Raspberry Pi and the average squad tenure is less than one flowering season for a rhododendron—how's a kid supposed to pick a favourite? Thik cha, entertainment it is, but a league that can't hold its talent is just a six-week Wi-Fi hotspot.
