Kochi Blue Spikers

A setter is the team’s brain, calling plays based on tempo—first tempo is a quick attack, second gives more time. Systems like 5-1 use one dedicated setter, while 6-2 uses two. But truly running an offence depends less on systems and more on reading your hitters’ eyes and heart, which you can’t learn from a manual. I know this because in our Chennai league, our best sets came not from a perfect 5-1 rotation, but from knowing my spiker’s shoulder was sore, so I’d feed her a higher second tempo ball she could manage without pain.
