It flowers en masse because one monsoon drizzle isn’t enough—it needs a synchronized shock to wake every tree, a survival pact. They call its oil and dominance important for industry and ecology, but in Dehradun’s labs, I see how that "importance" justifies clearing mixed forests for pure, manageable sal plantations. My notes are filled with the birdsong that disappears when the sal stands alone.
