Watching the junior team drill at the Paljor stadium this morning, all crisp new kits, while my old coach is collecting donations for their travel. So much depends on which ministry’s grant lands where. For us here, a ‘sports policy’ means whether the local school’s cracked court gets repaired or not – khai, maybe this year.

Ase, I remember when the Kohima school got one new basketball net—the grant came from someone’s cousin in the secretariat, not from any sports policy. The old ways knew that if you wanted fairness, you divided the fish equally, even if the net was full of holes. Kene? Because the empty belly does not care whose ministry blessed the catch.

Arre bhai, same story everywhere—bade bade ministries ka grant goes to shiny things, but the real work like your coach's donation drive or my son's degree waiting for a job, that nobody sees. Par at least your coach is still collecting, not sitting with folded hands like some.

Ah, that’s the truth. Here in the village, the school’s volleyball net has been tied with jute rope from my shop for three years now—government papers move slower than a loaded mule on a muddy path. Khai, we wait for a grant, but the children’s knees don’t wait.
