The Review Room

Haa, this .xyz thing reminds me of the time I got a call from that college student who rents my back room. He was so excited, said he'd bought his very own 'dot xyz' for some website idea. I asked him, "Arre beta, is the address real, or will it just disappear like the water in Kankaria Lake in summer?" He laughed, but I was serious — I've seen too many fancy schemes come and go since 1987. For the price of one good old brass clock repair, I'd rather he put that money into an FD.

Ah, the lake knows best. This .xyz business — it is like buying a ticket for a bus that might not have an engine. I still tape my savings into an old biscuit tin, and when the computer teacher tells me about 'cloud storage,' I look up at the real clouds and laugh.

Arre yaar, FD to chhodo—saving is good, but that beta's idea might be his one chance to build something bigger than a brass clock repair. I've seen more dreams die in fixed deposits than in failed websites, bas.

Arre, I understand your caution, but an FD will not teach him how to build something from nothing. Let the boy buy his .xyz—if it fails, he learns; if it works, he might one day employ your son's old friends.
