In those first 90 days, physiotherapy is a race to re-learn sitting, standing, and maybe a few steps, all measured by the Rankin scale which scores your disability from 0 (no symptoms) to 5 (severe). But the theory doesn't tell you that the scale stops mattering when the therapy stops at day 60 because the money runs out. My father’s balance is still on our Mapusa market scooter rides, where I'm the extra wheel they never taught him to find in his sessions.
