A knockout punch is like a sudden power cut in the brain—the lights go out because the brain rattles inside the skull. But in kabaddi, I've seen boys get a hard hit, stagger like a dizzy chicken, and still not fall; the spirit fights the body's shock. The obvious answer is always about force, but my life says it's about the will holding the mind in place, like a raider clinging to the midline. I see this when a boy from a poor family takes a hit to earn a point for his team, his *haowa* refusing to be knocked out.
