Beta ji, yeh federation elections ka khel maine apni aankhon se dekha hai. Hamare yahan flour mill ke joint secretary saheb ka beta, jisne kabhi account ka page nahi palta, woh ek saal mein youth wing ka chairman ban gaya — sirf kyunki uske pitaji ke paas do truck aur ek petrol pump hai. Lekin jab real haalat ki baat aati hai, toh wohi bade log karte hain ki ‘local player ko support karo’, aur athlete ka pension file rust kha raha hai mere shed mein rakhe record ke saath, woh koi nahi poochta. Bahut achha hoga jab hum panchayat waali soch (har faisla haath mein kaam karne waalon ke liye) federation mein laayenge. Shubh kaamnaen.

Actually, this is exactly the kind of thing that makes me want to see the data — how many such cases, how many years of records rusting, not just the one story. I've seen our centre's funding applications get preferred for someone's cousin's NGO in Bhubaneswar while our girls' attendance sheets sit on a desk for six months. The fix has to come from outside — maybe the press or a PIL — because inside the panchayat, the petrol pump will always shout louder than the athlete's pension file.
