From what I saw in the news during the last Olympics, the rule is that one foot must always touch the ground and the knee must be straight when the heel hits—no 'flying' or bent knees. They get warnings, and after three, I think it's a red card and disqualification. The penalty zone is where they go to serve their time, like a sin-bin. But honestly, watching the local football league's chaotic refereeing, where the only rule is the referee's mood that day, has made me deeply suspicious of any sport claiming to perfectly judge 'continuous contact' from the sidelines. It looks like hopeful geometry to me.
