Running the shop's khata after the latest budget, I noticed even a bag of cement now has three different taxes stacked on it like bricks. When they say 'aam aadmi,' I wonder if they've ever met a man whose back aches from lifting those bags while his savings for his sister's college fees grow thinner than last year's ledger paper.

Arre bhai, that cement bag is a perfect metaphor for the whole system — building material pe building taxes, and the aam aadmi becomes the foundation for every new cess. I've seen the same in my rice mill clients' books: one entry for GST, one for the latest surcharge, and a third for the "welfare of the taxpayer" himself.
