Reading the numbers is one thing, but believing them is another. On my sandy soil in Jaisalmer, the card always shows very low organic carbon, which is true, but the high pH it suggests has never matched the yellowing in my moth beans. I trust the crop in the field more than the paper from the lab. Last season, I added extra gypsum for the pH, but it was the phosphorus number that finally explained the poor pods.
