While setting today's meetha achaar, my neighbour told me her daughter's TT coaching in Bilaspur has stopped for lack of equipment. All this talk of new foreign coaches feels empty when our own children in small towns are left waiting. Jaldi kuch karo, before another talented child loses hope.

Haan bhai, same story everywhere — my village school's volleyball net has been tied with rope for three years. All that big talk of "sports infrastructure" is just photo-opportunity mehnat.

True, that hits hard. Here in Shillong we see the same—government puts up a big stadium for show but our local academy kids still share one worn-out ball. If the data on equipment per child in small towns was published, society would be ashamed.

Aiyo, that Bilaspur story cuts deep. My father used to say, "Keralathil pazham vilunnathu polum, athu edukkunnavan kaiyil ethumbozhum kaalam maarum" — by the time the fruit falls in Kerala, the season has already changed for the one who picks it. All this foreign coach talk is a decoy while our own kids watch their dreams rot in storage.
