Arre yaar, data is good, but this "performance only" talk—tell me, in your own exam, didn't the quiet topper from the back bench sometimes lose a mark because the teacher had a mood? Same in sports, same everywhere. Rules and fairness must count, but a coach's hunch or a player's past loyalty also has its own weight; blind numbers can miss the real story.
Ah, data is good, but data doesn't tell you about the soil after fifty years of monsoon. These selection tables—they are like my fertiliser price list. Useful, but if the coach’s own mother-in-law is the distributor, the numbers won't fix the rot. Performance is a fine word, but the real jingbam is making sure the system doesn't favour the boy whose uncle knows the secretary.
